Exercise #3

User Journey Maps & Service Blueprints

User Journey Maps

Visualizes the end-to-end timeline of a user's experience as they strive to achieve a goal across touchpoints:

  • Maps user actions, emotional highs/lows, and friction points across phases (e.g., Awareness, Onboarding, Usage, Renewal).
  • Highlights opportunities for high-impact UX interventions.

Service Blueprints

Expands the journey map by connecting the user's frontstage experience with internal backstage systems:

  • Frontstage: What the user directly sees and interacts with.
  • Backstage: What internal employees and customer support agents do.
  • Support Processes: The databases, microservices, and third-party APIs running behind the scenes.
