Exercise #6

Paper Prototyping in Discovery Workshops

Paper prototyping is the fastest, cheapest way to test interaction hypotheses:

  • Method: Sketch interface screens on index cards or paper sheets. One team member acts as the 'Computer', manually sliding paper screens, dropdown slips, and dialog overlays in response to the user's finger taps.
  • Cost: Near zero.
  • Velocity: Multiple conceptual iterations can be tested and reworked in a single afternoon discovery workshop before writing a line of code.
